For some courses I thought one Michelin Star is not enough, overall I believe it is a strong one star restaurant. The food is very good to amazing, the service is light, fresh and professional and the open kitchen and its staff are great to watch. An absolute recommendation.
I recently dined at this restaurant, and my experience left much to be desired. From the moment we walked in, the manager's long face when we weren't ready to order set the tone. It's unfortunate that our experience didn't improve from there.
The canapé was whisked away before we had the chance to finish, making us feel rushed. The wild boar and the deer dish were disappointingly dry and tough, while both the trout appetizer and the white truffle pasta were overwhelmingly salty, rendering them almost inedible.
However, it's worth noting that the young lady serving the bread was the highlight of the evening. She displayed a level of attentiveness and warmth that was sorely lacking elsewhere in the restaurant.
The other bright spot was the wine list, which was indeed impressive. However, a good wine list and a friendly bread server alone cannot make up for the subpar food and service we encountered. Overall, I would think twice before returning to this restaurant, given the disappointing dining experience we had.
We arrived on time, at 8pm. Got a cold reception on entry, not a good start!
We were given the menu for only a few minutes, and the staff rolled his eyes when I told him we need a few more minutes to consider the menu. Seriously I would have shouted at the staff if I was not dining with friends.
And then my amuse bouche was taken away before I had the chance to finish, and I had to raise my voice to the staff to have it returned, what was happening with the service?!
Honestly, the entire dining experience has already been completely ruined by the time my first dish arrived.
To the food, they were completely below average for Piedmont. I had the tajarin, it was very salty, and the white truffles were shaved way too thick. I also had the deer, it was tough and very dry. And the knife that I was given to cut the deer meat was no sharper than an ordinary bread knife. What a joke for a “Michelin” restaurant!
This was an utmost disappointing dinner to say the very least!
Well deserved Michelin star restaurant. Food was creative, well prepared and tasted like heaven. Service was professional and pleasant and the wine list is impressive. Great experience
Just a different level of quality. Outstanding lunch menu - focused on local dishes and traditional Cuisine with a twist of modernness (well balanced).
Loved every dish and the experience.
The Restaurant provides also an amazing view to top it even off.
Overall would totally recommend this restaurant, everything was solid and beyond. A true experience and for me a perfect place for lunch (since you won’t be able to enjoy the view during a late dinner anymore)
It’s also in a perfect location to explore Barolo and the Langhe region.
I had an excellent experience at Restorante Borgo Sant'Ana, chef Pascuale Laera, took as in an escuisite journey through the Langhe it's flavours and colors with a fun memorable experience. You definitely want to enjoy this.
Next time in the region I will definitely go again.
Location is stunning! Friendly people, food is good but not great. For a michelin starred restaurant pretty fair prices!
Unfortunately, our experience with Borgo Sant'Anna was disappointing unlike some other high-end restaurants in the region.
There are many staff members serving the tables however in chaotic manner and not really hospitable, visibly lacking a leader. Food was a mixed bag with wild boar cooked to perfection while e.g. guinea fowl overcooked and dry. Truffle was overpriced. Sommelier not very helpful and wine pairing far from excellence.
Summarising, definitely not up to a Michelin star. A pity.
